Four Redbirds reach double figures in win

DARLINGTON — The Redbirds had four players in double figures in a 69-58 nonconference win over Platteville Dec. 2. 

Will Murray led the way with 17 points and seven assists, while Hunter Hardyman finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Carver Fitzsimons added 13 points and eight boards, and Brady Long chipped in with 12 points, four rebounds and five assists.

Darlington led 32-23 at halftime and held Platteville to 22 of 60 (36.6%) from the field. Jesse Martin had 26 points for the Hillmen.


Cuba City 85, 

Black Hawk 48

SOUTH WAYNE — On Dec. 2, the Warriors fell behind early and were unable to catch up.

The Cubans took a 44-19 lead into halftime and then outscored host Black Hawk by 12 in the second half. Mason Reese and Max Lucey each had 18 points for Cuba City, while Carter Olson finished with 12 and Carter Niles added 11. 

Dempsey Schliem led Black Hawk with 13 points, and Gabe Nelson added eight.

Black Hawk lost at Belmont two days later in another nonconference game, 49-43.

In other area boys basketball games from Dec. 2, New Glarus beat Poynette 74-51; Monticello defeated Belmont 48-42; Argyle lost to Cassville 62-43; and Albany fell at home against Williams Bay 76-50. On Dec. 4, New Glarus lost to Scales Mound at the Lena-Winslow Jamboree 64-51 and Monticello lost at JustAgame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells to Cambria-Friesland 48-38.
