Fort tops Monroe; Argyle, BH keep rolling

FORT ATKINSON — The Cheesemakers were swept on the road Sept. 20 25-9, 25-11, 25-15.

Zoee Pond and Lexi Davis each had three kills for Monroe. Lily Frehner added a block, four digs and 12 assists, Alyse Maurer finished with a pair of aces and Bri Seagreaves had four digs.

Monroe traveled to Orfordville Parkview Tuesday and is at Watertown Thursday before taking part of the Wisconsin Heights Invitational Saturday. The next home match for the Cheesemakers is Oct. 4 against Oregon.


Argyle 3, Juda 0

ARGYLE — Jena Saalsaa had 10 kills and Alysabeth Lantz added eight more as the Orioles swept the Panthers 25-23, 25-11, 25-18 Sept. 20. 

Kirsten Ostby dished out 28 assists and notched eight aces for Argyle, which also received 12 digs from Jadyn Saalsaa and two blocks from Maggie Godfrey.

Juda was led by Hannah Powers’ five kills. Montana Steinmann added nine assists and Paige Price carded 16 digs. As a team, Juda had 72 digs.

Black Hawk 3, Albany 0

SOUTH WAYNE — The Warriors rode high in Game 1 and didn’t let up the rest of the night, winning 25-14, 25-9, 25-17 Sept. 20.

Kristen Knapp had two aces and a block for Black Hawk, which also got 14 kills from Bailey Butler and 13 kills from Hannah Butler. Savannah Burmeister added 13 assists for the Warriors.

Libby Beck had five kills, six blocks and an ace for Albany. Cindy Detra had five kills, Kaitlyn Dunphy added an ace, Payton Zurfluh dished out eight assists and McKenna Overland finished with eight digs for the Comets.


Monticello 3, Pecatonica 0

BLANCHARDVILLE — The Vikings started putting some runs together but couldn’t hang with the Ponies Sept. 20, losing in straight sets 25-22, 25-18, 25-18.

Mackie Errthum had seven kills and five blocks to lead Monticello, which also got six kills and three blocks from Abby Wicker, seven kills from Maggie Bak, nine digs from Alyssen Noriega and 21 assists from Lindsey Pence.

Sydney Eaton led Pecatonica with six assists, three kills, two blocks and nine digs. Val Carr had five kills for the Vikings, Samantha Holmstrom had five aces and Lexi Peterson finished with two aces and three blocks.


Brodhead 3, Beloit Turner 0

BELOIT — The Cardinals earned a three-game sweep Sept. 20 over the Trojans 25-1, 25-10, 25-20.

Abbey Johnson led the Cardinals with 15 assists, five aces and five kills. Madisyn Kail had 11 assists and an ace for Brodhead, which also got five aces and a block from Sabrina Siegel and four aces and nine kills from Katie Goecks.
