OSHKOSH — For the final time of their prep careers, five local players will lace up their cleats and step foot onto the gridiron.
Black Hawk’s Colby Argall and Rece Shelton, along with Pecatonica-Argyle’s Colton Schraepfer, Brodhead-Juda’s Jeffrey Williams and Belleville’s Daniel Enloe will all suit up for the South Small team at the 2019 Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star Game July 20 at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh.
Argall capped his career as Black Hawk’s all-time leading rusher (4,622 yards) and a state champion. He ran for a Six Rivers Conference-best 2,047 yards in his senior season and was named the league’s offensive player of the year.
Defensively, Argall and Shelton were lockdown defensive backs that shuttered opponents passing attacks and had the ability to step up and stifle the running game as well. The Warriors went unbeaten in 2018 and went on to win the WIAA Division 7 state title in November. Both Argall and Shelton earned honorable mention all-state honors by the WFCA.
Schraepfer led his Vikings to second place in the Six Rivers Conference last fall. Schraepfer, a quarterback and defensive back, also made the state all-star teams in both baseball and basketball. During the 2018 football season, Schraepfer amassed 1,159 yards through the air (fourth in conference) and another 983 on the ground (third in conference). He had a combined 31 touchdowns, one shy of Argall for the conference lead. He was named first team all-conference on offense and second team as defensive back and punter.
Williams was a first-team all-Rock Valley running back, rushing for 1,095 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Cardinals. He averaged 6.4 yards per carry in his career and had three kick returns for touchdowns.
Enloe was a first-team Capitol South selection on the offensive and defensive lines in 2018, and was named the league’s offensive lineman of the year in both 2017 and 2018.
The Small School game between the North and South teams will begin at approximately 1:30 p.m., with the Large School contest scheduled for 5 p.m. The Eight-Player All-Star Game opens the day at 10 a.m.
