EAST TROY — The Cardinals tried to pull off a comeback in a Rock Valley game April 12, but came up just a hair short, alling to East Troy 9-8.
Brodhead-Juda fell behind 4-0 after the first inning to East Troy, and trailed 8-4 after the fourth. But the Cardinals scored two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to erase much of the lead, with the Trojans plating the winning run in the bottom of the fifth.
Payton Johnson had three hits for Brodhead-Juda, while Chase Harnack, Andrew Brockwell, Marco Bueno, Conner Green and Brady Malkow each had two hits. Bueno finished with four RBIs and two home runs, while Johnson had a pair of doubles.
Brockwell took the loss on the hill, allowing four runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk in three innings. He struck out three. Bueno relieved, striking out two with a walk and eight hits in three innings. Four of Bueno’s five runs allowed were earned.
The Cardinals had five errors in the field. Bueno hit 2-run homes in the second and fifth innings.
