JANESVILLE — Darlington finished 20th as a team and Monroe 22nd at the annual Janesville Midwest Invitational Sept. 22.
Monroe’s Kyle Legler led the local pack with a 42nd place finish with a time of 16:40.6. Dylan Fahrney was 85th (17:11.6) for the Cheesemakers, with teammates Alex Henry (17:35.0) 123rd, Brennan Shelton (18:08.3) 177th and Jake Brower (18:45.9) 216th.
Payton Heinberg paced Darlington with a 48th place finish (16:44.3). The Redbirds also got scoring runs from Trae Schilling (112th, 17:27.6), Tucker Lange (126th, 17:37.4), Willie Riechers (151st, 17:56.0) and Bailey Schwartz (175th, 18:07.3).
On the girls side, Darlington finished 22nd as a team and Monroe was 41st.
Darlington’s Ilse Mendez was 20th overall with a time of 19:34.0. Judith Meister (58th, 20:12.0), Allyson Meyers (176th, 22:00.8), Bethany McDonald (196th, 2:22.7) and Maddie Crist (200th, 22:31.3) each had scoring runs for the Redbirds.
Jacie Hayes (21:25.6) paced Monroe with a 143rd place finish. Other scoring Monroe runners were Elise Smith (234th, 23:39.0), Ellery Bazley (244, 24:00.0), Jazmyn Mader (248th, 24:16.9) and Maddie Bartlet (262nd, 25.49.8).
