Crusaders trip Cheesemakers; Pec no-nos BH

MADISON — Monroe lost to Madison Edgewood 6-1 at Warner Park April 19.

Charles Briggs, Henry Brukwicki, Trevor Schmitt and Tucker Markham all had two hits for Monroe, while George Brukwicki had two walks and a double in the 3-hole. 

Henry Brukwicki took the loss on the mound, allowing four earned runs on seven hits and a walk with five Ks in five innings of work. Keegan Dahmen pitched the sixth for Monroe, allowing two runs on three hits. Six of Edgewood’s 10 hits went for extra bases.

Edgewood scored a run in the bottom of the first, then added two in the third and another in the fourth to go up 4-0. George Brukwicki scored on an RBI from Markham in the fifth inning for the Cheesemakers’ lone run. The Crusaders added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Pecatonica 10, Black Hawk 0

SOUTH WAYNE — Elijah Knutson and Bryce Johnsrud combined for the Vikings to no-hit the Warriors in a 5-inning game April 19.

Knutson struck out five and walked two in four scoreless innings, while Johnsrud pitched a perfect fifth with two Ks to close the book.

Tyler McKeon was 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, two steals and three runs scored from the leadoff spot for Pecatonica. Kegun Brunker was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a double. Hunter Enloe stole three bases and scored three times.

The Vikings scored one run in the first and second innings, then three in the third, four in the fourth and one more in the fifth.

Dempsey Schliem took the loss for Black Hawk, pitching two hitless innings while allowing two runs (one earned) on five walks. Nathan Figi tossed the final three innings, allowing six hits and three walks for the Warriors.

Argyle 12, Monticello-Albany 9

ARGYLE — The Orioles won a Six Rivers East game against the Ponies April 19.

Alex Gilbertson finished with three hits, including a double, three RBIs, two steals and three runs for Argyle, while teammate Max Godfrey had two doubles, three RBIs and two runs. The Orioles stole seven bases. Buddy Gerber tossed 5.2 innings with six strikeouts. Brady Penniston closed the door.

Monticello-Albany sent four pitchers to the mound, combining for 10 strikeouts, but allowing 12 runs (six earned) on seven hits, six walks and four hit batters. Tyler Anderson was 3-for-4 at the plate, while Evan Rufer had two hits. Nick Roe had a double, two walks and drove in two. Cody Pryce added a pinch-hit double.

Brodhead-Juda 6, Big Foot 3

WALWORTH — Gabe Bockhop had two doubles and three RBIs as the Cardinals cashed in with a Rock Valley win April 19.

The Cardinals broke a scoreless tie with a 3-run fourth inning, then added two more in the fifth and another in the top of the sixth. Big Foot scored its three runs in the bottom of the seventh against Evan Senobe. Cooper Woelky came on in relief to slam the door shut. Brady Malkow started and tossed six scoreless innings, striking out nine and scattering three hits and three walks.

Cuba City 13, Darlington 3

CUBA CITY — The Redbirds were routed April 19 by the Cubans, who closed the door early with a six-run sixth inning.

Five Darlington pitchers combined to allow eight earned runs on nine hits and 10 walks in 5.1 innings. 

At the plate, Gage Banfield had two of Darlington’s three hits, including the team’s lone double. He also scored a run. Brady Horne had a two-RBI single and stole a base.

Darlington scored three runs in the top of the second to take a brief 3-0 lead. The Cubans tied it in the bottom half of the frame, then added another run in the fourth.

Wisconsin Heights 8, New Glarus 7

MAZOMANIE — The Glarner Knights lost a tight Capitol South game April 19 to the Vanguards.

Eli Zimmerman labored through 2.1 innings, tossing 69 pitches in that span. He allowed just one hit but four walks with six strikeouts. Just one of the two runs charged to him were earned. Brett Warrell came on in relief and gave up five runs (three earned) in 1.2 innings of work. Leyton Mihlbauer pitched the final two innings for New Glarus.

At the plate, Easton Dreyfus was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, two runs scored ad a steal. Mihlbauer added two hits, a steal, an RBI and a run. Cale Weeden reached twice on walks while Brennan Butler reached twice on a hit and a beanball.
