MONROE — Brock Brandli scored a goal and had an assist to lead the Monroe Cheesemakers to a 4-1 win over the Evansville Blue Devils in their Rock Valley Conference opener on Sept. 11. 

Reese McIntosh, Nelson Lux Garcia, and Shawn Van Dyk added goals while Trenton Wyss and Grayson Bartholf each had an assist to help the Cheesemakers in the win.

Barrett Brandli contributed with six saves in net on the night. 

Monroe (3-2-1, 1-0) will face East Troy on the road in RVC action on Sept. 18.

Raiders blank Columbus

COLUMBUS — The Sugar River Raiders jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and used their defense to post a shutout in a 4-0 win over the Columbus Cardinals in their Capitol Conference opener on Sept. 11.

Tikeh Tazeh got their first goal for the Raiders with an assist from Arlo Belknap to put the Raiders in front 1-0. Tazeh got the next goal for the Raiders, this time with an assist from Drew Brueggemann giving the Raiders a 2-0 lead. Brueggemann found the net on Sugar River’s third goal with an assist by Owen Griffin and the Raiders had a 3-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Harry Hubbard scored for the Raiders with Brueggemann getting the assist and Sugar River went on to win 4-0. Goalkeeper Taydon DeRouin closed the door on the Cardinals with six saves. The Raiders had 22 shots on goal.

Sugar River (7-1-1, 1-0) will play at Waupun in nonconference boys soccer on Sept. 16.
