REEDSBURG — The Cheesemakers found themselves on the losing end against the Beavers May 17, as all eight runs in an 8-3 defeat were unearned. 

Charles Briggs and Tucker Markham each doubled for Monroe. George Brukwicki, Trevor Schmitt and Nate Baker drove in the team’s three runs with an RBI each. Keatin Sweeney walked twice. 

George Brukwicki started on the mound for Monroe, allowing three hits and two walks in four innings of work. All five runs against him were unearned. Braden Rupnow and Henry Brukwicki each tossed an inning of relief.


Pecatonica 12, Monticello-Albany 0

MONTICELLO — Elijah Knutson and Jayden Johnson each had three hits, including a double, as the Vikings took care of business on the road May 16.

Hunter Enloe had two hits, as did Carson Kurschner. Enloe started on the mound, striking out four while allowing one hit and our walks in 2.1 innings. Tyler McKeon tossed 1.2 innings, striking out five batters and allowing a walk. Coy Ruegsegger tossed the final two innings, striking out two with a walk and a hit.

Pecatonica 13, Argyle 0

BLANCHARDVILLE — The Vikings scored four runs in the bottom of the first, four more in the third and five in the fourth to claim a league victory over their rival on May 17.

Coy Ruegsegger tossed all five innings, allowing just one hit with five strikeouts for Pecatonica. Will Helfvogt started for Argyle and was tagged for eight runs (six earned) in 2.1 innings. Ike Waage pitched the rest of the way, with all five runs allowed earned. 

Pecatonica out-hit Argyle 13-1. Elijah Knutson had three doubles for the Vikings, while Bryce Johnsrud had two two-baggers and Ruegsegger one. Tyler McKeon tripled and drove in three runs. Ruegsegger also had three hits and three RBIs, while Carson Kurschner had two hits, a walk and two RBIs.


Barneveld 11, Argyle 2

ARGYLE — The Orioles entered the sixth inning tied with the conference co-leaders 2-2. However, Barneveld scored three times in the sixth and tacked on six more runs for insurance in the seventh to pull away in a May 16 Six Rivers East game.

Six of Barneveld’s 11 runs were earned. Max Godfrey tossed 4.2 innings for Argyle, striking out nine. He allowed just one hit but six walks on the hill, with both runs against him earned. Buddy Gerber and Brady Penniston came on in relief.

The Orioles were held to just five hits and two walks, all while striking out 14 times. Godfrey and Penniston had two hits each.


Brodhead-Juda 14, Clinton 4

CLINTON — Cullen Walker had two hits, including a triple, and two steals as the Cardinals scored a five-inning mercy-rule win over the Cougars in a Rock Valley game May 17.

Cooper Woelky started on the mound, tossing four innings and striking out eight with four runs allowed. Mason Kammerer tossed the final inning, collecting two strikeouts. 

At the plate, Woelky tripled, while Aidyn Vondra had a single, three walks, three runs and five stolen bases. 


Darlington 11, Boscobel 8

Darlington 7, Boscobel 1

DARLINGTON — The Redbirds stayed hot with a doubleheader sweep over Boscobel May 17. Darlington has won 6 of 7 since May 6.

Breylin Goebel homered and doubled for the Redbirds, while Braden Davis, Cadyn Burbach and Gage Banfield each had a triple. 

On the mound, Goebel allowed one run with eight strikeouts in a complete-game effort in the 7-1 victory. Banfield tossed 5.2 innings in the other game, allowing six earned runs with 10 strikeouts. Burbach pitched 1.1 innings in relief, allowing an unearned run.


Lake Mills 10, New Glarus 0

LAKE MILLS — A 6-run sixth inning ended the game early on May 17.

The L-Cats took advantage of Knights reliever Brett Warrell, tagging him for seven runs on nine hits in 2.1 innings of relief. Six runs were earned. Patrick Alt opened the game with three innings on the hill for New Glarus, allowing three runs on six hits with five strikeouts. 

The Knights had just three hits and one walk in the game.
