Cheesemakers dominate MG-McFarland

MONONA — Monroe cruised to a 48-18 dual victory over Monona Grove-McFarland Jan. 17.

The Cheesemakers picked up four wins via pin and three by forfeit.

Dakota Wickstrum won the 145-pound match by pin in just 60 seconds over Jonathan Schlaefer. At 170, Max Patterson pinned Elijah Newman in 67 seconds. Kelsey Dominguez pinned Guenther Switzer in 95 seconds at 225, and Garrett Voegeli won the 113-pound match by pin in 87 seconds.

Bodie Minder was the winner at 285 with a 5-0 decision over Kristian Schlicht. Brady Schuh beat Cole Weaver 8-6 to win the 126-pound bout.


Pec-Argyle 4th at Ithaca-Weston Invite

ITHACA — The Vikings took fourth place as a team at the Ithaca-Weston Invitational Jan. 18.

Noah Krahenbuhl (24-5) took first place at 126 pounds, picking up three pins, a forfeit and a major decision in the process.

Also bringing home first place for the Vikings was Easton Schraepfer at 160 pounds. Schraepfer (26-4) picked up four pins and won the semifinal with a 9-0 major decision.

Tayte Hirsch (182), Dalton Turner (170), Zander Brunker (152), Dakota Doescher (132) and Ridge Toay (106) all finished in third place for Pecatonica-Argyle.

Kristian Orloff (138) and Justin Hearthershaw (145) were fourth-place finishers, while heavyweight Quinn Murphy was fifth.


Brodhead-Juda goes 2-1 at RVC Duals

EAST TROY — The Cardinals defeated Clinton and Jefferson but lost to East Troy at the Rock Valley Conference duals Jan. 18.

Brodhead-Juda defeated Clinton 48-18 and Jefferson 48-30. The Cardinals lost to the Trojans 66-12.

On the day, the Cardinals had 11 pins: three against Clinton, two versus East Troy and six in the victory over Jefferson.

Brian McCullough had three pins at 152 pounds, putting in just 3 minutes, 26 seconds of total time on the mat.

Blain Berget had two pins for Brodhead-Juda, as did Jayson Starr. Jacob Miller, Matthew McCullough, Cole Hoesly and Braden Erb each added pins for the Cardinals on the day.
