Cheese snag set from Whippets

WHITEWATER — Monroe won the first set of a conference matchup, 25-19, against Whitewater on Thursday, Sept. 28 before dropping the next three 25-18, 25-13, 25-18. Over the weekend, the Cheesemakers traveled to Clinton for an invite, where they went 2-3 for sixth place.

Monroe beat Clinton (25-17, 25-20) and Williams Bay (25-13, 25-20). The team lost to Randolph (25-20, 25-6), Turner (25-14, 25-14) and Parkview (26-24, 24-26, 15-6).

The Cheesemakers host Clinton in a conference match-up on Monday, Oct. 9, in the regular-season finale.


BRODHEAD 3, CLINTON 0

BRODHEAD — The Cardinals improved to 5-2 in conference following a 25-14, 25-13, 25-6 win over the Cougars Thursday, Sept. 28. Addison Yates led Brodhead with nine kills, followed by Brynn Riesterer with seven. Jaelyn Hilliard distributed the offense with 12 assists. Defensively, Allie Dahl and Makenna Schooff dug out 11 and 10 attacks, respectively. Addie Leifker served up five aces.


BARNEVELD 3, ALBANY 0

BARNEVELD — The Eagles, ranked No. 6 in Division 4, extended its winning streak to five games with a 25-18, 25-10, 25-17 victory over the Comets on Thursday, Sept. 28. Barneveld needs to win one more conference game to clinch the Six Rivers East Conference title.


MINERAL POINT 3, DARLINGTON 1

MINERAL POINT — The Pointers defeated the Redbirds 16-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-16 on Thursday, Sept. 28. During the game, Darlington senior Aubrey McCarthy tallied her 1,000th career assist.

In other local volleyball, Monticello swept Juda.
