Cheesemakers Hold Off Crimson Tide 8-5
MONROE — A three-run third inning and a three-run fifth inning gave the Monroe Cheesemakers the runs they needed to overtake the Edgerton Crimson Tide 8-5 in a Rock Valley Conference crossover game on Monday May 19. First baseman Ian Berg went 2x4 with two RBIs and left fielder Cam Newcomer got a pair of hits, including a triple, and an RBI to lead the Cheese. Catcher Logan Meier added a hit and scored two runs. On the mound, junior Marcus Ott pitched six and 2/3 innings and allowed five runs (two earned) on seven hits. Ott walked one and struck out nine. Monroe (11-8, 3-3 RVC-Valley) was scheduled to host East Troy in a Rock Valley Conference game on Thursday May 22.


Pec’s Enloe Throws 1-Hitter Against Argyle-Black Hawk
BLANCHARDVILLE — Pecatonica’s Austin Enloe came within two outs of a perfect game in the Vikings 10-0 win in five innings over Argyle-Black Hawk in Six Rivers conference baseball on May 20. Enloe, a junior, allowed a base hit by Cole Lunlavey of Argyle-Black Hawk with one out in the fifth inning and did not walk a batter. Enloe recorded seven strikeouts and pitched six innings. Senior designated hitter Grady Gordon went 2x2 with a double and two RBIs to help the Vikings get the win. Pecatonica is now 8-7 in the Six Rivers conference with the win and 11-11 overall. Argyle-Black Hawk dropped to 1-15 in the Six Rivers conference and 1-18 overall with the loss. The Vikings host Potosi-Cassville on May 22 while Argyle-Black Hawk hosts Darlington May 23 to close out the regular season for both teams.
Bockhop’s Home Run Helps Brodhead-Juda Knock Off Clinton
BRODHEAD — Catcher Gabe Bockhop clubbed a home run and drove in two runs while shortstop Sam Searls and 2B Brooks Malkow got two RBIs each to lead the Brodhead-Juda Cardinals to a 7-4 win over the Clinton Cougars in Rock Valley Conference, Rock Division action on Monday May 19. Starting pitcher Brody Riese allowed four runs (three earned) while giving up four walks and struck out four. Brodhead-Juda (10-12, 4-3 Rock Valley-Rock) had a doubleheader scheduled against Turner at Beloit on Thursday May 22. The Cardinals close their regular season on May 27 at Edgerton.
Errors Help Parkview To 5-3 Win Over Belleville
BELLEVILLE — The Belleville Wildcats committed 11 errors, which allowed the Parkview Vikings to take down the Wildcats 5-3 in nonconference baseball on Monday May 19. Pitchers Logan Derke, Austin McKinley, and Trei Udelhoven allowed just one earned run. Sophomore Austin McKinley went 1x4 with two RBIs. Senior Niles Monroe scored two runs to lead Belleville. The Wildcats got nine stolen bases in the game. Belleville (7-15, 5-3 in the Capitol South) have two Capitol South Conference games on their schedule against Wisconsin Heights May 22 at home and May 24 on the road.
New Glarus Falls To Dodgeville
DODGEVILLE — The New Glarus Glarner Knights scored two runs in the first inning and two runs in the seventh inning, but, in-between, the Dodgeville Dodgers scored five runs in the second inning to notch a 5-4 win in non-conference baseball on May 19. Five different players got base hits for the Glarner Knights with 1st baseman Braden Rear getting an RBI. Nolan Julseth, Landon Stelter, Ashlin Mihlbauer, and Matt Roth got base hits for the Knights. Roth pitched six innings and allowed five runs on six hits, three walks, and three strikeouts. The loss dropped New Glarus to 11-7 overall on the season. The Glarner Knights (5-3 in the Capitol South) played at Waterloo on May 20 and host Waterloo on May 22 in Capitol South conference action.
