MONROE — The Cheesemakers lost to Platteville-Lancaster 2-1 Aug. 30 in the home opener at Honey Creek Park.

The Hillmen scored two goals in the first half to put Monroe down at the break, but Alex Barradas scored in the second half to put the Cheesemakers on the board. 

Monroe had just four shots on goal all game, while Platteville-Lancaster kept Cheesemakers goalkeeper Devan Schulte busy all game. Schulte had 22 saves in total.

Monroe was slated to host Reedsburg Tuesday and travels to Whitewater Thursday. The Cheesemakers will continue their nonconference slate with a matchup Saturday at home against Evansville at 11 a.m.

The Aug. 28 rainout against Sauk Prairie has been rescheduled for Sept. 14.

In other area action, Sugar River defeated Wisconsin Heights-Barneveld in Mazomanie Aug. 30. The Raiders were scheduled to play Janesville Craig in Walworth Sept. 1 and Dodgeville-Mineral Point Tuesday. Sugar River hosts Hustisford-Dodgeland Thursday.
