MONROE — The Monroe-New Glarus (MNG) girls swim team is off to a hot start to the 2023 season, defeating Sauk Prairie 119-51 in its first home meet on Tuesday, Sept. 12. In addition to a second dual victory, two team records were broken.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Harper Paradis, Anna Zentner, Delaney Lynch and Riley Hoesly broke the current record, as did Megan Chapman in the 400 freestyle.

In total, there were nine first-place finishes, eight second-place finishes and six third-place finishes. Last year, MNG narrowly defeated Sauk Prairie 89-79.

“We have a lot of depth this year and a bigger team,” MNG co-head coach Rachel Root said. “We are able to fill the lanes in each event. We also are able to have two relays for the varsity events. The girls also have a very positive team dynamic. They get along well, support one another, and push each other at practice.”
