REEDSBURG — Monroe finished seventh at the Badger Conference Tournament Feb. 5 despite trotting out just eight wrestlers.

Milton won the team title with 372.5 points, well ahead for second place Reedsburg (246.5) and third-place Stoughton (228). Monroe had 125.5 points.

Jack Dubach was Monroe’s lone champion, taking the title at 138 pounds. He had a bye in the first round and won his second-round match by 11-1 major decision. In the semifinal against Milton’s Hunter Kielisqewski, Dubach won 3-0. In the championship, he pinned Oregon’s Brandon Liddle with just six seconds remaining in the third period.

Schuh brothers Christian (132) and Brady (145) each took third place. 

Christian won four matches on the day, each by pin, including the third-place match with just two seconds left. He lost to Beaver Dam’s Kyler Neuberger in the second round, which knocked him into the consolation bracket.

Brady Schuh was pinned in the semifinal by Milton’s Royce Nilo. Brady scored a quarterfinal pin in the third round. In the quarterfinal, Brady pinned his opponent in the third round. In the consolation semis, he won by tech fall, and in the third-place match he won by a 16-4 major decision.

Isaac Bunker (285) was also third overall for Monroe, losing in the semifinal. He won three other matches on the day by pin, including the third place match.

Garrett Minder (106) was seventh.


Pec-Argyle third at conference

The Vikings scored 118 points at the Scenic Ridge and Rivers Conference meet Feb. 5. Ithaca/Weston (256) won the title, finishing well ahead of second-place De Soto (131).

Aidan Gruenenfelder (106) was Pec-Argyle’s lone champion. Kristian Orloff (145) was second, as was Jakob Orloff (113). Tayte Hirsch (170) was third, and Trevor Doescher (120), Sammy Nelson (138) and Levi Paust (220) were fourth. 


WarBirds fourth at SWC/SWAL Clash

Fennimore (254.5) took the top spot Feb. 5, with Iowa-Grant/Highland (218.5), Mineral Point (210.5) and Darlington-Black Hawk (205.5) all close behind. 

Freshman Maddox Goebel was first overall at 152 pounds, while senior Owen Huschitt was first at 182.

Brady Horne (195), Breylin Goebel (160), Owen Seffrood (132) and Ethan Aird (106) each finished second for the WarBirds, while Ross Crist (220) was third, and Bryan Lazaro (285) and Eli Aird (113) were sixth.


Brodhead-Juda sixth at RVC

The Cardinals edged out Edgerton by a half of a point for sixth place Feb. 5 at the Rock Valley Conference tournament. Evansville won the meet, with Whitewater second.

Joe Lohmar (132) and Marcus McIntrye (138) won their weight classes. Seth Mansfield (145) was fourth, with Jacob Roth (106) and Jacob Lohmar (113) fifth. Jameson Wallin (126), Mario Reyes (152), CJ Streuly (195)and Emmitt Allen (220) took sixth.


Sugar River fourth at Capitol

Lodi won the Capitol Conference title Feb. 5, with Poynette second, Watertown Luther Prep third and Sugar River fourth.

Mason Mau (126) and Blake Endres (106) were champions for the Raiders, while Ryker Swenson (152) was second. At 120 pounds, Brennan Keyes was third, while fourth-place finishers included Isaac Erb (220) and Carson Loshaw (195).
