ORFORDVILLE — The Cardinals capped a COVID-Large Conference title with a 64-6 thumping of Parkview-Albany April 30 in Week 6.
Braden Cook had 122 yards and 3 touchdowns on 9 rushing attempts. Quarterback Cade Walker had a TD run and a TD pass to Conner Green. Brady Rosheisen also had a rushing TD.
The Cardinals were unstoppable in all facets, as Brodhead-Juda scored two special teams TDs as well. Marcus McIntyre had a punt return for a score, and Green added an 80-yard kick return for a touchdown.
Jericko Schwartzlow scored the Vikings’ only touchdown on a fourth quarter run. QB Paul Keintz was 9 of 22 passing with two INTs.
Columbus 42, New Glarus-Monticello 6
NEW GLARUS — Darris Schuett threw for 166 yards and a touchdown, setting the new mark for career passing for the Glarner Knights’ program, but it wasn’t enough as the Cardinals rolled in Week 6.
Columbus scored twice in the final five minutes of the first half to take a scoreless game to 14-0 at the break. New Glarus-Monticello answered with a 9-yard TD pass from Schuett to Rudy Wicker midway through the third quarter, but Columbus scored four unanswered touchdowns the rest of the way.
Holden Latsch had 71 yards rushing on 20 carries for NGM. Nathan Streiff finished the night with 69 yards on 7 catches, and Peter Gustafson added 44 yards on five catches. Gustafson had an interception on defense, and Streiff had a team-high 14 tackles.
Caden Brunell had 135 yards rushing and four touchdowns for Columbus. Quarterback William Cotter had 217 yards passing and a TD.
The final game of the spring season for NGM is scheduled for May 7 at home against rival Belleville.
