BRODHEAD — The Cardinals jumped out to a 16-point lead at halftime and knocked off visiting Clinton 72-63 in a Rock Valley game Feb. 4. 

Cade Walker led Brodhead with 21 points, while Dawson Van Whye had 18, Dawson McGinty 12, Connor Green 10 and Cody Malcook nine.

Clinton was led in scoring by Riley Anastasi’s 23.


New Glarus 93, Marshall 76

NEW GLARUS — The Glarner Knights moved one step closer to a Capitol South Conference title thanks to a big game from sophomore forward Mason Martinson. 

Martinson exploded for a career-high 33 points, including 17 in the second half. 

The Knights, playing without all-state senior guard Jaden Kreklow due to an injury, trailed 48-47 at halftime, but went on a 33-16 run in the first nine minutes of the second half to take a commanding lead.

Zach Feller connected on four 3-pointers and finished with 24 points for New Glarus, while teammates Connor Siegenthaler (12) and Trevor Gassman (10) also reached double figures.

The fifth-ranked Knights (16-2) hit nine 3s in the game and were 14 of 17 from the free throw line. New Glarus has three games next week, starting with home matchups against Belleville on Feb. 11 and Waterloo on Feb. 12 before a Feb. 15 game at Wisconsin Heights which could be for the conference championship.


Black Hawk 61, Monticello 56

SOUTH WAYNE — The Warriors faced a grinding test Feb. 5 and stayed just one game out of first in the Six Rivers East race.

Black Hawk led by four at halftime against the Ponies, and capped the win thanks to a double-double from senior forward Conner Meyer, who had 20 points and 10 rebounds. 

Colby Argall had 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Warriors, while teammate Kyle Lovelace — nine points, eight boards — and Tyler Triem — eight points, eight boards — also had big games for the home team.
