Brodhead wins Edgerton Invite

EDGERTON — Brodhead senior Alexis Kammerer was named the Taylor Invitational Most Valuable Player after leading her team to a tournament title at Edgerton High School on Sept. 17. Senior teammate Abbie Dix also earned all-tournament honors.

Brodhead defeated Edgerton (25-12, 25-20), Cuba City (25-20, 25-21), Altoona (23-25, 25-23, 15-9), Clinton (25-12, 25-11), Deerfield (25-8, 25-11) and Janesville Craig (25-15, 25-13). Altoona finished second, and Edgerton was third.

Kammerer finished the tournament with nine aces, 124 assists, 10 kills and 33 digs. Dix had 55 kills, five aces, six blocks and 30 digs. Kirsten Fish had 43 kills, Addison Yates chipped in with 20 kills, Mckenna Young tallied 19 kills, nine aces and 34 digs. Kaidynce Bevars added seven aces and 38 digs. 

Two days before, Brodhead defeated Jefferson in straight sets, 25-7, 25-14, 25-12. Kammerer had 21 assists and 10 aces. Fish had 11 kills and five aces. 


Reedsburg 3, Monroe 0

REEDSBURG — The Beavers upended the Cheesemakers in straight sets Sept. 15, 25-12, 25-20, 25-10.

Host Reedsburg was almost all-or-nothing from the service line, putting just 83.6% of serves into play. However, 14 dropped for aced. On the other side, Monroe had an 86.4 service percentage, but just two aces. The Cheesemakers had a total of 57 errors to 31 by the Beavers.

Addison Bartholf had eight digs and nine assists for Monroe. Courtney Hartwig led the team with six kills. 


Monticello 3, Black Hawk 0

SOUTH WAYNE — The defending Six Rivers East champion continued its winning ways this season, knocking off conference rival Black Hawk 25-23, 25-19, 25-21 on Sept. 15. 

Raylin Peterson had six kills and nine digs for Black Hawk, while teammate Tara Wellnitz had six kills and two blocks. Ellie Edler dished out 17 assists, and Allyse Troemel had three aces. 


Waterloo 3, Belleville 0

BELLEVILLE — The Pirates rolled to a 25-10, 25-14, 25-9 victory over the Wildcats Sept. 15. 

Addy Edge had eight assists and two blocks to lead Belleville. Four Wildcats had two kills. Belleville drops to 1-8 on the season, and 0-4 in the Capitol South.
