

BRODHEAD — Led by Olivia Brooks, Ryleigh Brown and Rachel Hatter, the Brodhead-Juda girls cross country team took first place with 26 points at the Cardinal Invite on Aug. 28 at Brodhead High School.
Brooks captured second place with a time of 22:52. Brown finished third place in 23:09, and Hatter placed fourth in 23:18. The second, third, and fourth place finishes helped the Cardinals get by Evansville, who placed second with 30 points.
In the boys race, Mavrik Plummer led the Cardinals to a second place finish as he ran the course in 18:21 and took second place. Gauge Smith of the Cardinals was seventh in 19:59, and Jorge Villava of Brodhead-Juda was right behind in eighth place with a time of 20:01. The Cardinals just missed out on a first place finish as they scored 57 points while Edgerton won the boys race with 54.
In addition to Brodhead-Juda, the other teams that competed in the Cardinal Invite were Evansville, Turner, and Holy Family Academy.
