BRODHEAD — The Cardinals allowed just 10 points in the second half en route to a 58-25 win over Clinton on Thursday, Dec. 1.
Brodhead led 28-15 in the first half with seven points from Abbie Dix. Alexis Kammerer chipped in six points, all of which came from beyond the arc. Alecia Dahl and Addison Yates each had a pair of buckets.
In the second, Brodhead limited Clinton to 10 points, despite committing 11 fouls. The Cougars went to the line five times in the second half and made just four of their ten free throws.
Dix nearly doubled her offensive production with 12 points in the second half. She ended with a team-leading 19 points. Yates, who had just four points in the first, scored seven more in the second for a total of 11.
The Cardinals have played three conference games so far, going 3-0. East Troy is also undefeated in the Rock Valley with wins over Big Foot, Turner and Whitewater.
ALBANY 66, SHULLSBURG 40
ALBANY — With a double-double from Gracie Freitag, the Comets continued their non-conference win streak at home on Thursday, Dec. 1.
Freitag was 6-for-10 on the floor with one free throw for 13 points. She also dominated on the boards with 12 rebounds. Teammates Alana Durtschi and Avary Briggs also scored in double figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Abby Hollis and McKenna Broughton made a pair of 3-pointers, while Broughton led the team in both assists (6) and steals (5).
Camden Russell led Shullsburg offensively with 12 points, half of which came from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Taylor Russell grabbed a team-leading nine rebounds. The Miners fell short at the free throw line, making just three of their 13 shots for 23 percent.
HIGHLAND 72, ARGYLE 33
ARGYLE — The Orioles ran into foul trouble in their home loss to Highland on Thursday, Dec. 1.
Both Jaylin Hartwig and Mya McNett fouled out of the game with six and eight points, respectively. Hartwig had the team’s only 3-pointer, while McNett scored half of her points from the charity stripe. Hannah Gierhart led the team with 11 points, scoring seven of those in the first half.
All but three players scored for Highland, with Ella Cody leading them all. She had 16 points, going 3-for-4 from the free throw line. Bronwyn Halverson and Grace Dreischmeier also scored in double figures with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Kate Tarrell had two of the team’s seven 3-pointers.
JOHNSON CREEK 64, JUDA 32
JOHNSON CREEK — Juda suffered a road loss to Johnson Creek on Thursday, Dec. 1.
The Panthers scored 17 points in the first half, seven of which came from Jackie Nusbaum. Briliey Swedlund chipped in six more points, and Rhianna Sullivan had the other four.
In the second half, Juda put up 13 points. Nusbaum scored another seven points for a total of 14. Ciarrah Davis, Katie Brooks and Lavinia Rufer — all of whom didn’t score in the first half — chipped in a bucket each.
Johnson Creek had three in double figures, with its two leading scorers at 18 points. The next highest had 14 points, 12 of which came from beyond the arc.
CUBA CITY 49, DARLINGTON 42
DARLINGTON — Although the Redbirds outrebounded the Cubans 42-32, Darlington was on the losing end of a SWAL game on Friday, Dec. 2.
Cuba City had a 22-9 lead after the first half. Darlington scored 33 points in the second half, but it was unable to overcome the first-half deficit.
Kylie Butler was the team’s leading scorer with 13 points. She went 6-for-9 from the free throw line with one 3-pointer. Cayla Golackson snagged 11 rebounds and also had a team-leading five assists.
Ella Vosberg scored 16 points for the Cubans before fouling out of the game, while Summer Rogers grabbed six rebounds.
