MONROE — The Six Rivers East Conference announced its All-Conference teams and Juda-Albany’s Avary Briggs was named the Pitcher of the Year, while Pecatonica’s Chloe Schraepfer was named Player of the Year. Their head coaches, Bill Davis and Dan Schraepfer, respectively, were Co-Coaches of the Year.

In the circle, Avary Briggs pitched 109 2/3 of the Panthers’ 140 innings, striking out 125 batters. The junior pitcher posted an 11-6 record with a team-best 1.66 ERA. At the plate, she drove in a team-high 21 RBIs and was one of three batters to hit over .400 with a .423 batting average.

Junior shortstop Alana Durtschi also made First-Team. She led Juda-Albany in hits (31), stolen bases (12) and batting average (.431). She was also second on the team in hits (21) and doubles (6). Lefty slapper Ciarrah Davis made First-Team All-Conference with a team-best 27 runs scored, 13 walks and 12 stolen bases. She was one of three players to hit .400 or better, with a .400 batting average. Freshman Emerson Briggs also used her speed to garner First-Team accolades. She scored 18 runs, drew nine walks and stole 11 bases. Emerson Briggs was her sister’s No. 2 on the mound, throwing 25 2/3 innings. She posted a 3-1 record with 29 strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA. Senior Gracie Freitag used her power to earn First-Team accolades, hitting two home runs and driving in 20 runs. Catcher Myah Johnson rounded out the First-Team All-Conference selections for Juda-Albany. The junior led the team in doubles (7) and had a .356 batting average. 

Jackie Nusbaum was the Panthers’ lone Honorable Mention selection. After coming off a basketball injury, the senior went 12-for-38 for a .316 batting average with 13 RBIs. 

Bill Davis earned Co-Coach of the Year, leading Juda-Albany to a 15-7 record. The Panthers claimed their first Six Rivers Conference title since 2018 and advanced to the regional final, where they fell to Belmont 9-3.

As Six Rivers East runners-up, Pecatonica had four First-Team All-Conference selections, including Player of the Year Schraepfer.

At the plate, Chloe Schraepfer led the Vikings in doubles (10), triples (2) and RBIs (26). In 76 at-bats, she tallied 24 hits for a .316 batting average. On the mound, Chloe Schraepfer pitched 128 of Pecatonica’s 153 1/3 innings. She struck out 172 batters while walking 42. Chloe Schraepfer posted a 12-9 record with a 1.64 ERA. 

Maddie Hirsch also made First-Team All-Conference with her offensive prowess. In 80 at-bats, she tallied 29 hits for a team leading .363 batting average. Hirsch also hit two triples and stole 12 bases. At leadoff, Trinity Gruenenfelder also used speed to make First-Team. The senior scored a team-best 24 runs and drew 17 walks. She also tallied 20 hits, drove in 16 runs and stole 10 bases. Senior Kyra Chrowstowski rounded out the First-Team All-Conference selections for Pecatonica, scoring 17 runs and drawing 10 walks.

Despite being injured all season, Amanda Chrowstowski received Honorable Mention recognition for her leadership. Head coach Dan Schraepfer was proud of her dedication — never missing a practice — and spirit from the dugout. Bri Peterson also garnered Honorable Mention accolades. The junior tallied 17 hits, four of which were doubles, and drove in 17 runs.

Dan Schraepfer earned Co-Coach of the Year, leading Pecatonica to a 12-10 record. The Vikings advanced to the regional final, where they fell to Highland 10-0. 

Sophomore Ava Wiegel was the lone First-Team All-Conference selection for Argyle. In 59 at-bats, she tallied 22 hits, 11 of which were for extra bases. She drove in a team-best 18 runs and recorded a .373 batting average. Senior Hannah Gierhart received Honorable Mention recognition. She led the team in runs scored (13) and batting average (.404). She also tallied 21 hits with five doubles and six RBIs.

Argyle finished the 2023 season with a 5-16 record, falling to Highland 11-1 in the regional semifinal. 

Molly Olson was the lone First-Team All-Conference selection for Monticello-New Glarus and the only freshman to receive the highest honors. She led the Ponies in hits (15), doubles (4), walks (19) stolen bases (11) and batting average (.268). Olson also proved valuable on the mound, picking up all three of MNG’s wins. She gave up 37 earned runs in 82 2/3 innings pitched for a 3.13 ERA. Karlee Wilkins received Honorable Mention recognition, going 13-for-55 at the plate for a .236 batting average. She scored nine runs with nine walks.

Monticello-New Glarus finished 3-17 on the season, falling in its opening playoff game 13-3 to Parkview.
