BLANCHARDVILLE — Black Hawk-Warren capped the regular season unbeaten with a 27-7 win at rival Pecatonica-Argyle Oct. 18 in Week 9. It marks the third straight unbeaten season for the Warriors, which are defending state champions in Division 7 and went into the final week ranked No. 1 in the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association poll.
Black Hawk-Warren led the Vikings 6-0 after the first quarter, and put up 21 points straight points in the second quarter to lead at halftime by 27.
Pecatonica-Argyle’s lone touchdown came in the fourth quarter.
Cayden Milz led the Warriors in rushing with 117 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown. Jaylen Rufenacht had 60 yards rushing on five carries with two scores, and Lucas Milz added 50 yards on the ground with a score.
The win earned the Warriors the outright Six Rivers Conference title for the season.
New Glarus-Monticello 42, Belleville 7
NEW GLARUS — The Glarner Knights treated their Week 9 matchup against rival Belleville as a playoff matchup.
In front of an amped-up crowd, New Glarus-Monticello went up 21-0 before the end of the first quarter and 28-0 at halftime.
Darris Schuett found Nathan Streiff for a 26-yard TD pass just 62 seconds into the game to put NGM up early. With 4:47 left in the first quarter, Schuett and Streiff connected for another 26-yard score. The duo connected four times in total for touchdowns, with a 50-yard score coming with 50 ticks left in the opening frame and from two yards away with 5:32 to go in the second.
In the third quarter, Schuett found Cooper Dreyfus for a 30-yard TD, which began the running clock. With 9:36 left in the fourth, Robert Chenoweth scored on a 7-yard run for NGM.
Belleville’s lone goal came from Jjay Wenger on a 9-yard carry with 5:27 to play.
Schuett finished the game 15 for 21 passing for 305 yards and five TDs. Streiff had 182 receiving yards on six catches. Connor Siegenthaler had 54 rushing yards and 54 receiving yards, while Chenoweth had 47 yards on the ground.
Darlington 40, Cuba City 28
DARLINGTON — Wyat Bredeson had 203 yards on 20 carries with two touchdowns, helping the Redbirds secure a spot in the postseason. Darlington muscled its way across the line of scrimmage much of the game, collecting 483 yards on the ground.
Bredeson had scores of seven and four yards in the first quarter as Darlington staked itself out to an 18-0 advantage. The Redbirds’ third score of the first quarter came on an 11-yard pass from Braden Davis to Carter Lancaster. It was the first of two touchdown connections between the two.
The Cubans scored back-to-back touchdowns in the second quarter to make it 18-14, but Michael Riley brought the lead back to two scores with a 9-yard scamper two minutes before halftime.
In the third quarter, Cayden Rankin hit pay dirt from 34 yards out with 5:49 left, only for Davis and Lancaster to connect from 20 yards away to make it 40-14. Cuba City scored two late touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but couldn’t continue the rally.
Davis finished 6 of 13 passing for 80 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He also added 121 yards rushing on 16 carries. Easton Evenstad had 121 yards on nine carries, and Rankin finished with 57 yards on three touches.
Cuba City QB Beau Kopp was 25 of 47 passing for 280 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, while Riley Ritschard had a 52-yard TD pass and a 42-yard catch for the Cubans.
McFarland 34, Brodhead-Juda 26
BRODHEAD — The Cardinals let an 8-point lead slip away in the fourth quarter but still managed to reach the postseason.
McFarland bookended the game with a pair of touchdowns. In the first quarter, Nicholas Hall had a 27-yard TD run and a 22-yard TD reception to put the Spartans ahead 13-0. Dalton Naramore made it 13-6 with a 1-yard plunge for the Cardinals in the second quarter, only for McFarland to return a fumble for a touchdown a short while later to go ahead 20-6.
Nick and Dalton Naramore each scored on 1-yard runs before halftime, with the Cardinals converting both two-point conversions to lead 22-20 at the break.
In the third quarter, Cole Hoesly threw a 65-yard TD pass to Nick Naramore, but the extra point attempt was unsuccessful.
McFarland brought the score to 28-27 in the fourth after Jeremiah Price-Johnson threw a 79-yard TD pass to Hall. The Spartans again struck gold with a 27-yard pick-six late in the fourth quarter to go up by six points.
Dalton Naramore had 132 yards rushing on 20 attempts, while Nick Naramore had 73 yards on 19 attempts. Hoesly was 7 of 16 passing for 133 yards and three interceptions. Price-Johnson had 128 yards passing and 118 yards rushing to lead McFarland.
Parkview-Albany 60, Living Word Lutheran 32
JACKSON — The Vikings scored their first win as a co-op with a dominating nonconference victory Oct. 19 in Week 9.
Parkview-Albany led 26-12 after the first quarter and 46-12 at halftime. A touchdown in the third quarter made it 53-12 and briefly started a running clock.
Jevon Ferguson was 0 for 3 passing but finished with 189 yards rushing with two touchdowns on just six carries out of the backfield for the Vikings. Charlie Vogt had two TDs and 79 yards on eight rushing attempts, while Zac Unseth had 74 yards and a score on six carries. Maverick Kundert got in on the action, scoring a touchdown and gaining 39 yards on four carries. Luke Schwengels took three rushing attempts, gaining 12 yards and scoring two touchdowns for the Vikings.
Parkview-Albany gained 405 yards on the ground on just 32 carries, averaging 12.7 yards per attempt.
Next season, the co-op will switch out of the Trailways-Large and into the SWAL as a part of the WIAA’s statewide realignment plan.
