BH blows by Juda; Argyle edges Albany

JUDA — Top-ranked Black Hawk routed Juda 89-21 Dec. 14.

Bailey Butler had 22 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and four steals to lead the Warriors. Natalie Leuzinger had 20 points, seven steals and six rebounds while Hannah Butler finished with 19 points, five steals and six boards. Kaylee Marty added 13 points for Black Hawk (7-0, 4-0 Six Rivers East).

Hannah Powers led Juda (1-8, 0-4) with 10 points. Taylor Golackson had six.

The Warriors led 57-7 at halftime and finished the night with 27 steals. The two teams combined for just five fouls in the game.

Black Hawk hosts Barneveld (2-5, 2-1) Dec. 20 while Juda is off until Jan. 4.

Barneveld 44, Pecatonica 15

BLANCHARDVILLE — The Eagles jumped out to a 22-4 halftime lead and continued cruising after the break.

Nine Barneveld players scored, with Jacey Spring and RaeAnne Leister leading the way with eight points each. Tessa Green led the Vikings with six points.

Up next for Pecatonica (2-7, 0-4 Six Rivers East) is a road game Dec. 20 at Argyle (5-1, 2-1).

Argyle 48, Albany 44

ALBANY — The Orioles held back a second-half surge to upend the Comets in the battle for second place in the conference standings.

Argyle (5-1, 2-1 Six Rivers East) led 22-15 at halftime thanks to nine points from Jena Saalsaa. 

In the second half, Saalsaa added seven points and Kirsten Ostby had eight of her 13 total points as the Orioles hung on, going 5-for-10 from the free throw line after halftime. 

Brianna Dahl led Albany (6-3, 2-1) with 15 points, including 12 after halftime. Libby Beck went 9-for-11 at the line and finished with 13 total points in the contest. Albany hit just one 3-pointer to Argyle’s six.

Both teams are now tied with Monticello (5-3, 2-1) and Barneveld (2-5, 2-1) for second in the conference behind unbeaten Black Hawk.


Darlington 68, Fennimore 18

DARLINGTON — The home Redbirds, sitting atop the SWAL standings, handed bottom-feeding Fennimore (2-6, 0-4) a lopsided loss.

Darlington (7-1, 4-0) jumped out to a 32-7 lead at the half.

Kaylee Meyers scored 21 points to lead the Redbirds, while teammate Brenna McDonald had 10 and Kathleen Mathias had nine. 


Whitewater 76, Brodhead 44

WHITEWATER — Kacie Carollo had 22 points, Cassidy Laue finished with 18 and Abby Grosinske 16 for the Whippets as they rolled the Cardinals.

Whitewater (5-3, 5-2 Rock Valley) has beaten Brodhead eight straight times dating back to the 2014-15 season.

The Cardinals (5-4, 3-4) host Evansville (4-5, 4-3) Thursday before taking two weeks off of game action over the holiday break.
