BELLEVILLE — With a 19-0 shutout of the Fennimore Eagles, the Belleville Wildcats improved to 4-2 in the SWAL and clinched a playoff spot. Their Week 9 game against the Darlington Redbirds will only affect postseason seeding, not eligibility.

Belleville had a small, 5-0, lead at halftime thanks to a Ryker Swenson safety and 25-yard field goal from Tyler Miyamoto. The Wildcats laid it on thick in the fourth quarter with a passing and rushing touchdown.

Rayden Taylor was 3-for-6 passing with one touchdown and one interception. Brennan Keyes, who was 5-for-10 passing, threw three interceptions. Logan Derke ran for 70 yards on 18 carries with one TD. Sam Arndt caught two passes for 18 yards, including one for a touchdown.

The Wildcats caused havoc on defense with two sacks, three forced fumbles and three interceptions. Swenson led the pack with one of the sacks and two of the forced fumbles.

BLACK HAWK-WARREN 70, RIVERDALE 6

SOUTH WAYNE —  The top scoring team in the state, regardless of division, added another 70 points to its total with a dominant Six Rivers win on Oct. 11. Black Hawk-Warren, ranked No. 3 in Division 7, scored seven times in the first half alone to enforce a running clock.

Owen Seffrood had 300 all-purpose yards on just 11 touches — six carries for 141 rushing yards and three touchdowns, one pass for 14 yards and another touchdown, and four punt returns, one of which he took 68-yards to the end zone. Just over a minute after Seffrood’s punt return, Beau Podnar had a 25-yard pick-6. Podnar, Piercen Mahoney and Beau Bredeson also tallied a rushing TD.

The Warriors finished with 398 rushing yards compared to the Chieftains 38. After Week 8, BHW ranked third in the state in all divisions for rushing yards with 2,865.

While the Warriors have already clinched a playoff spot, the SR title is up for grabs in a Week 9 thriller against top-ranked Potosi-Cassville. The Chieftains, defending conference champions, have not lost a game all season.

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN 39,

NEW GLARUS 6

PRAIRIE DU CHIEN — With four interceptions, the Knights struggled to gain momentum in a SWC loss to the Blackhawks, ranked No. 3 in Division 5, on Oct. 10. With a 3-3 league record, New Glarus must win its Week 9 game against River Valley (2-4) to guarantee a playoff spot.

Matthew Roth was 19-for-31 passing for 207 yards and four interceptions. Luke Burton tallied the lone Knight touchdown, finishing with 45 yards on three carries. Will Pinnow was the most-targeted receiver with eight catches for 65 yards. Defensively, Milo Johnson hauled in an INT.

LANCASTER 35,

BRODHEAD-JUDA 8

BRODHEAD — The Cardinals avoided a shutout with a 31-yard TD pass from Gabe Bockhop to Erik Woodward in a SWC loss to the Flying Arrows on Oct. 11. With the loss, Brodhead-Juda drops to 2-4 in league play and can no longer clinch a playoff spot. However, WisSports.net projects the team will make the playoffs, based on conference win-loss percentage of its defeated opponents, and assuming the team beats Richland Center (2-4) in Week 9.

Lancaster limited Brodhead-Juda to 133 offensive yards. Bockhop was 6-for-16 passing for 70 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Woodward, who had two catches, led the team with 44 receiving yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Grayson Arn had a team-high 41 yards on 10 carries. Defensively, Woodward and David Masloske hauled in an INT each.

POTOSI-CASSVILLE 55, PECATONICA-ARGYLE 0

BLANCHARDVILLE — With its shutout loss to the top-ranked team in Division 7, the Vikings were dealt a blow. Pecatonica-Argyle, 2-4 in the Six Rivers, would have needed to defeat Potosi-Cassville (6-0) and River Ridge (4-2) to keep playoff eligibility alive.

PA accumulated just 51 yards of offense, with 48 of them coming in the air. Ashton McNett was 1-for-3 for 41 yards, and Cohlman Schlimgen was 4-for-10 for seven yards and two interceptions. Michael Helfvogt threw one interception. Defensively, Bo Stately led the team with 10 tackles and a forced fumble.

BELMONT 47, MONTICELLO 16

BELMONT — Senior Alex Roe had two, 50-plus-yard touchdown runs for the Ponies, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the Braves in a Ridge & Valley game Oct. 11.

Belmont got off to a quick start, as Mason Oellerich returned the kickoff 66 yards to the end zone. The Braves got one touchdown on the ground and three in the air to lead 33-0 at halftime. Tyler Kisamore ended the game with another kickoff returned for a touchdown.

Monticello still looks for its first win of the inaugural 8-player season as the team faces conference-leading, second-ranked Highland.

JOHNSON CREEK 52, PARKVIEW-ALBANY 6

ORFORDVILLE — Just 58 seconds into the game, seventh-ranked Johnson Creek scored on a pick-6 and controlled the game from that point on. The Vikings managed one score, a 15-yard pass from Aiden Crane to Louis Nath.

Crane finished the game 18-for-32 passing with 183 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He also led the team on the ground with 55 yards on seven carries. Nath, the recipient of the touchdown, tallied 123 yards on five catches.
