Juda-Albany seniors win player, pitcher of the year awards

Juda-Albany’s Nicki Becker was named the Six Rivers East Conference Pitcher of the Year for the fourth straight year. Becker was also named first team all-conference.

MONROE — Six Rivers East champion Juda-Albany scored both the conference player of the year and pitcher of the year, as well as getting five total players named all-conference. 

Senior Nicki Becker was the Pitcher of the Year for the fourth straight year and senior teammate Hailey Kammerer was named the conference’s player of the year.

Becker garnered first team all-conference as a pitcher and Kammerer was first team all-conference as an outfielder. Both Becker and Kammerer played a critical role in leading the Panthers to their fourth straight conference title.

Becker went a 17-4 record as a pitcher, struck out 206 and posted a dazzling 1.36 ERA. Kammerer was the leading hitter for the Panthers (.678 average) with two home runs and 28 RBIs. It’s the fourth straight year Becker was named first team all-conference and the third consecutive year for Kammerer.

Juda-Albany had four players named first team all-conference. In addition to Becker and Kammerer, senior Sammi Detra was first team all-conference at catcher and senior Haley Freitag was first team as an infielder. Panthers sophomore Lydia Bouc was honorable mention all-conference.

The other all-conference pitcher was Barneveld junior Audrey Hendrickson and Monticello junior Claire Klossner was the other first team selection at catcher. Black Hawk’s trio of first team all-conference players includes freshman Bailey Butler (infielder), sophomore Natalie Leuzinger (outfielder) and sophomore Hannah Butler (at-large pick).

The three all-conference players for Argyle are junior Kirsten Ostby (infielder), junior Jadyn Saalsaa (outfielder) and senior Brianne Connors (at-large selection). Pecatonica senior Ninah McKeon was first team pick as an at-large selection.

Barneveld seniors Kennedy Barsness (infielder) and Brooklyn Hogan-Weier (at-large) also were first team picks.

Black Hawk senior Hannah Herbst and senior Lauren Schultz were both named honorable mention all-conference. The other honorable mention picks include Argyle seniors Erin Bruehlman and Morgan Nelson, Monticello junior Hannah Zanow, Barneveld senior Jamie Kelly, Pecatonica junior Abby Loomis and Barneveld senior Kayleigh Leahy.
