MONROE — The Badger Conference released its All-Conference teams on Thursday, May 25 with 10 Monroe athletes making the cut.
In girls soccer, Atziriy Ocampo was the team’s lone pick to the Honorable Mention squad. She led Monroe in goals scored and had two, four-goal games. The senior will continue her soccer career this fall at Madison College,
The baseball team had five honorees, including First-Team All-Conference selection Tucker Markham. The senior led the Cheesemakers in multiple offensive categories, including runs scored (8), doubles (5), triples (2), home runs (1) and RBIs (9). He was a valuable part of the outfield, chasing down balls in center and filled in a first base at the end of the season.
George Brukwicki and Keegan Dahmen made Second-Team All-Conference. Despite missing the last month of the season with a shoulder injury, Brukwicki led the team with a .385 batting average with 10 hits, a triple and three runs scored. On the bump, he threw 20 1/3 innings and struck out 17 batters.
Dahmen led the team in at-bats (57), runs scored (8), hits (19) and doubles (5). He had the second-highest batting average at .333. Dahmen emerged as Monroe’s No. 1 pitcher after Brukwicki’s injury. He pitched 39 2/3 innings with a 2-6 record. He struck out a team-best 24 batters and recorded a 5.47 ERA.
Senior Keatin Sweeney received Honorable Mention recognition. He drove in a team-high nine runs, walked 12 times and stole six bases. He was the anchor of the infield, playing most of the season at shortstop.
The Regional Championship softball team had five All-Conference honorees. Freshman Kaegann Paulson and sophomore Brinley Roidt were First-Team All-Conference selections. Paulson proved to be a valuable two-way player for Monroe. She posted a 13-8 record on the mound with a 4.58 ERA. In 145 1/3 innings pitched, she struck out 170 batters. At the plate, Paulson led the team in runs (36), hits (44), triples (5), stolen bases (25) and batting average (.389).
Roidt provided power to the offense, with nine doubles, six home runs and 33 RBIs. She was second on the team in runs scored (26), hits (36), walks (12) and average (.367).
Sophomore Sophie Golembiewski made Second-Team All-Conference. She led the team in walks (19) was second in triples (2) and RBIs (24) and third in hits (33) and batting average (.363). In addition to offense, she played first and threw 40 1/3 innings. She posted a 3.82 ERA with a 4-3 record.
Senior Katie Witt and sophomore Olivia Feller received Honorable Mention accolades. Witt came on at the end of the season to drive in clutch runs. She finished with 27 hits, five doubles, 11 walks and 23 RBIs. She was one of eight Cheesemakers to hit over .300 with a .310 batting average.
Feller was a crucial part of Monroe’s seventh inning against Turner, leading off with a single. She finished with 28 hits, 17 RBIs and a .304 batting average.
