BELMONT — The 14th annual Six Rivers All-Star Basketball Classic will be held at Belmont High School on Friday, June 28, with the girls’ game tipping off at 6 p.m. and the boys’ game to follow at approximately 8 p.m.
There will also be a special 3-point shooting contest held in between the games.
All proceeds from the free-will admission and other fund-raising efforts during the night go directly to the Madison Children’s Hospital in support of their events. Coaches, game personnel, referees and other participants donated their time to this event.
In the 13-year history of the All-Star event, the Six Rivers Conference has donated more than $19,000 to the Children’s Hospital.
The All-Star Classic features the top senior players from the Six Rivers Conference Western Division going head-to-head against the standouts from the Eastern Division in a game consisting of two 20-minute halves.
Black Hawk head coach Mike Flanagan and Albany coaches Derik Doescher and Brandon Bakken will guide this year’s East All-Star girls’ team against River Ridge head coach Caren Townsend’s West All-Stars.
Black Hawk senior Sydney Delzer will suit up for the East All-Stars along with Argyle’s Kirsten Ostby, Alysabeth Lantz, Jena Saalsaa and Jadyn Saalsaa; Monticello’s Alyssen Noriega and Abby Wicker; Albany’s Libby Beck and Payton Zurfluh and Barneveld’s Elizabeth Oimoen.
Belmont’s Nicole Knebel will be joined on the West All-Star squad by Benton’s Sophie Dougherty, Maggie Dougherty and Shay Soppe; Potosi/Cassville’s Amber Udelhoven and Brittany Horner; and River Ridge’s Taylor Langmeier.
Barneveld head coach Tyler Sullivan and assistant coaches Trent Sullivan and Nate Wood will lead the East All-Star boys’ team against Potosi head coach Mike Uppena and assistant coach Jake Green’s West All-Stars.
Black Hawk’s Colby Argall, Kyle Lovelace and Conner Meyer will team up once more for the East All-Stars along with Pecatonica’s Colton Schraepfer, Jaden Hendrickson, Zack Eaton and Carter Ruegsegger; Barneveld’s Malcolm Reed, Trey Gordon and Dayne Evans; Juda’s Quinton Kammerer; Albany’s Josh Dahl, Corbin Kelley and Jamison Stauffacher; and Monticello’s Monticello’s Jeffrey Ace.
Leading the way for the West All-Star’s will be Shullsburg’s Jacob Berendes, Alex Wand and Kyle Klotz along with Belmont’s Ethan James and Colin Austin and Benton’s Nathan Mowry and Brooks Tiedeman. Joining them will be Highland’s Spencer Linscheid and Derek Miller; River Ridge’s Blake Crubel; Potosi’s Will Bierman, Brady Curtis and Ethan Groom; and Cassville’s Mason Infield, Ty Bausch and Kaleb Hauk.
In the 13 years of the event, the West holds a 10-3 advantage over the East in the girls’ All-Star game, while the East boys hold a 10-3 all-time record over the West All-Stars.
The Six Rivers West girls posted a 62-50 victory over the East to take bragging rights for the third year in a row, while the East boys shot down the West 99-57 in last year’s Six Rivers All-Star Basketball Classic to also win for the third consecutive year.
In the fifth annual 3-Point Challenge, the East shooters set a new record with 62 made treys as they buried the West, 186-165, to improve to 3-2 all-time and end the West’s two-year reign as 3-point champions.
Six Rivers to host 4th annual All-Star volleyball match
SOUTH WAYNE — The Six Rivers Conference will hold its fourth annual East vs. West Volleyball Showdown at Black Hawk High School on Friday, June 21, starting at 7 p.m.
River Ridge head coach Dianne Langmeier will lead the West team along with Benton coach Nicole Tyson, while Black Hawk head coach Rachel Wolff will guide the East team.
The teams will be made up of the senior All-Conference selections from the West Division and East Division squaring off in a final five-set match to end their prep careers.
The West rolled over the East, 4-1, in last year’s senior showcase to gain a 2-1 edge in the all-time series.
