Albany’s Knauf picks Aurora for hockey

ALBANY — Haley Knauf, a senior forward with the Rock County Fury girls’ co-op hockey team, has committed to skate for Aurora University next season.

A signing ceremony was held at Albany High School Feb. 11 with Fury coaches Luke Steurer and Blane Einbeck in attendance. Knauf has scored more than 100 points in her prep career with the Fury. Albany Athletic Director Derik Doescher presented both Haley and sister Alyssa Knauf, a junior, with plaques commemorating each for passing the 100-point career milestone this season. Albany High School will display plaques for each player.

Aurora University is an NCAA Division III school west of Chicago with an enrollment of just under 4,000. The Spartans are 15-6 this season under first-year head coach Jackie Kooistra, including a 9-3 mark in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association League.
