MONTICELLO — After a nonconference test on Monday, Jan. 9, Albany routed Monticello 71-38 in a Six Rivers Conference matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 10. The Comets nearly doubled the Ponies in each half — 30-15 in the first and 41-23 in the second.
Abby Hollis had another stellar performance, scoring a team-leading 22 points, going 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. Hollis ranks third in Division 5 with a .433 3-point percentage, going 42-for-97. Jordyn Jaglinski of Assumption (.476) and Libby Ash of Sevastopol (.459) are ahead of her.
Gracie Freitag put up 16 points, as one of four Comets in double figures. She also grabbed seven rebounds. The two other players in double digits were Alana Durtschi and Avary Briggs, with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Durtschi snagged a team-leading eight rebounds, while Briggs drained two 3-pointers.
ALBANY 64, JOHNSON CREEK 16
ALBANY — On Monday, Jan. 9, the Comets picked up a nonconference win over the Blue Jays.
Four players scored in double figures, lead by Briggs with 16 points. She was 4-for-4 from the charity stripe with two 3-pointers. Hollis trailed with 12 points and a pair of threes, too. Durtschi tallied 11 points, while Freitag totaled 10. Emerson Briggs (three points), McKenna Broughton (six points), Myah Johnson (two points) and Anna Ellinger (four points) also contributed to the offense.
