MONROE - Monday's snow, sleet and icy conditions wreaked havoc on school athletic schedules, as a slew of boys and girls basketball games were postponed.

The Monroe boys basketball team's non-conference game against Dodgeville was postponed. Monroe boys basketball coach Pat Murphy said the game will be made up, but there is not a date set yet.

"I think it will be some time in January, I hope," Murphy said. "It's really hard to make up games in February."

Monroe will host New Glarus at 7:30 today.

"We knew we wanted to play some games over break because our next game is not until Jan. 7," Murphy said. "At least we will get one game in."

Several holiday boys basketball tournaments were pushed back to play today and Wednesday.

The Cambridge Holiday Tournament was postponed to today and Wednesday. The Monticello boys basketball team will play the Milwaukee School of Languages at 6 p.m. today. Cambridge will host Palmyra-Eagle in the other game at 8 p.m. The Mineral Point Holiday Tournament was postponed to today and Wednesday. Black Hawk will play Mineral Point at 7:30 p.m. today.

The Brodhead boys basketball team's tournament in Cuba City was also postponed. The River Ridge tournament was postponed and switched to a one-game tournament today. Albany will play River Ridge at 10 a.m.. The championship game is slated for 2:30 p.m.

On the girls basketball docket, the Cambridge Holiday Tournament was postponed to today and Wednesday. Albany will play Cambridge at 4 p.m. today.

Many of the major wrestling tournaments, including the Bi-State Classic where Monroe will wrestle, begin today. The Bi-State Classic at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Center will start two hours later than scheduled today to accommodate out-of-town teams and fans.
