League's POY to Warriors' Butler

Paige Butler has helped guide the Black Hawk girls basketball team to its first state tournament appearance. Her efforts have earned her Player of the Year honors in the Six Rivers East, along with a spot on the all-conference first team.

Butler, a senior, averages 13.6 points per game and has made 42 3-pointers.

Warriors teammates junior Kim Wellnitz (12.3 ppg) and Melissa Wellnitz (5.8 ppg) also were named to the first team. Black Hawk seniors Gabi Lehner (6.4 ppg), Maria Meives (4.2 ppg) and Hailey Meier (3.6 ppg) all were given honorable mention for their stiffling defense and senior leadership.

Pecatonica junior Kimee Chandler (16.8 ppg) and senior Brittany Kent (13.3 ppg) each made the first team. Chandler finished as the conference's scoring leader, knocking down 26 3s, and Kent was the Vikings' post presence with solid range from the field.

Juda freshman center Ellen Kiser (9.6 ppg) impressed all season long and was named to the first team, while junior forward Heather Boeke (10.2 ppg) was tapped as an honorable mention player.

Monticello seniors Sarah Silver (8.5 ppg) and Nicole Smith (2.0 ppg) notched honorable mention nods.

Albany senior Nicolette Blumer (10.1 ppg) was named to the first team. Argyle freshman Danielle Treuhardt (4.2 ppg) was named honorable mention.

Black Hawk head coach Mike Flanagan was named co-coach of the year with Barneveld's Jim Myers.

Both the Warriors and Golden Eagles finished the regular season tied atop the conference standings.
