DODGEVILLE - The New Glarus girls basketball team had no shortage of players willing to step up in crunch time Monday night.
Lexi Hanson and Courtney Feller scored 14 points apiece and Ayna Schween added 10 as the Glarner Knights edged Dodgeville 57-53 in a non-conference game.
All three players made big plays in the final minute. Hanson's three-point play pulled New Glarus within a point and, after Dodgeville scored, Schween drilled a
3-pointer to tie the game.
Feller scored the go-ahead basket on a layup after the Knights (13-8) broke the Dodgeville press, and they hit their free throws to ice it.
"(Dodgeville) is a very quick, guard-oriented team and we haven't seen that much this year," New Glarus coach Megan Scheele said. "We fought and battled the whole way and played some tough defense in the second half. It was a nail-biter until the end."
Rachel Pope scored 17 points to lead the Dodgers (10-11).
