BLANCHARDVILLE - Argyle sophomore Jenna Langmeier went 4-for-4 to lead the Orioles to a 13-2 win over Pecatonica in a rain-soaked, five-inning game Thursday, May 9.

A series of scheduling conflicts urged the two teams to play even though it rained. Pecatonica coach Chuck Meyer said several players for the Vikings are participating in a fundraiser Saturday with the Future Problem Solvers to raise money for a trip.

"They (Argyle) are more backed up than we are," Meyer said of the Orioles' schedule. "It wasn't too bad when we started, but it got progressively worse. It wasn't a game that would determine the conference standings so we decided to play."

Argyle (9-9, 5-4 Six Rivers East) scored three runs in the first inning and five in the second to take an 8-0 lead.

"(Argyle) put the ball in play," Meyer said. "When they got runners on base, they hit well. That's a deadly combination."

Argyle senior Rachel Tollakson went 2-for-2 and senior Kayla Ostby was 2-for-3. Argyle junior Jessica Treuthardt and gave up two runs on seven hits. She struck out seven and walked one.

Pecatonica senior Michelle Francois went 2-for-3 to lead the Vikings. Pecatonica's Julia Meyer pitched 3 1/3 innings and gave up six earned runs on 13 hits. She walked five.

Pecatonica (2-14, 2-8) got the leadoff runner on base in the first and second, but they couldn't push across a run.

"Offensively, it's been the same old song," Meyer said. "We are just not consistent enough."

Pecatonica will play at Fennimore today and Argyle will play in the Juda-Albany torunament Saturday, May 11.
