MINERAL POINT - The New Glarus golf team took fourth place at the Mineral Point regional on Tuesday to qualify for the sectional.

The Glarner Knights shot a 341 and edged fifth place Darlington and Iowa-Grant for the sectional by two strokes Dodge-Point Country Club. Lancaster and Cuba City tied for the regional title (325) and Southwestern (326) took third and will also move on to the sectional.

Darlington senior Zach McArthur had the top area finish taking sixth place with an 81 to lock up a sectional berth.

The Knights were led by senior Lucas Lagan who tied Lancaster's Nathan Farrey for 10th with an 82. Senior teammate Eric Anderson tied Southwestern's Connor Kuhl for 12th (83).

Darlington's Alex Schulte and AJ. Brandt finished in a three-way tie with New Glarus' Evan Rife for 17th (86) and each was just two shots away from a sectional berth. New Glarus junior Dallas Andersen and Darlington's Chase Tuescher both carded a 90.

Pecatonica-Argyle took eighth (363) and was led by sophomore Christopher Severson and junior teammate Jacob Melvin finishing in a five-way tie for 20th (87). Grant Barnes carded a 92 and Zach Shilling had a 97 to round out the top four for Pecatonica-Argyle.
