BELLEVILLE - Sugar River senior Otto Kienitz was named the Capitol South Conference Player of the Year recently.
Kienitz also was named first team all-conference as a forward for the Raiders. Sugar River sophomore Mitchell DeLorme was also honored as a first team all-conference defender.
Sugar River finished 7-1 in the Capitol South and earned a three-way conference title along with Lodi and Cambridge-Deerfield.
The Raiders beat Dodgeville-Mineral Point 5-1 in the WIAA Division 2 regional opener. Kienitz had two goals and three assits to lead the Raiders in the win. The Raiders lost in the regional final to Mount Horeb 5-1.
Sugar River junior Justin Stadelman was named second team all-conference as a forward and sophomore Travis Loeffelholz was named to the second team as a midfielder.
The Raiders finished second at their tournament and went 1-1 against Monroe this year.
