Kernen, Raiders honored

Sugar River sophomore Hannah Kernen (10) was named the 2009 Capitol Conference Player of the Year. Kernen scored 33 goals this season, including seven game-winners and three penalty kicks. She had 74 total points, and the Raiders won the conference championship.
As expected, Sugar River sophomore midfielder Hannah Kernen has been named the 2009 Capitol Conference Player of the Year.

Kernen led the conference with 33 goals, eight assists and 72 total points this season, leading the Raiders to a conference title. Of all of those goals, three came via penalty kick, and seven were game-winners.

Suguar River sophomore defenders Rachel Skolaski and Mackenzie Christensen each were named to the first team all-conference list.

Senior defender Kelsey Engelke was the lone Raider named to the second team, while a pair of sophomores made the honorable mention list - forward Katie Viney and defender Chelsea Holler each nabbed honors.

Sugar River (15-4-3, 7-1-0 Capitol) won the conference by one point over Columbus (6-1-1).
