MONROE - Maddie Kallgren scored two goals and had two assists to power the Monroe High School girls soccer team to a 7-1 win over Janesville Parker on Tuesday at Honey Creek Park.
Monroe has won three straight games to start the season and is averaging 7.3 goals per game.
"It's a great morale booster to not only win three straight games, but to win them very convincingly," Monroe coach Miriam O'Neill said. "I think the girls were determined to go out and score a lot. I think they played better than they did against Wisconsin Heights. They had better possession, better passing and they timed their runs."
Monroe defeated Wisconsin Heights 8-0 Friday.
On Tuesday, the Cheesemakers outshot the Vikings 16-8 and exploded for five goals in the first half.
Monroe freshman Emily Benzschawel put the Cheesemakers on the board early, scoring a goal on an assist from Kallgren at 7 minutes, 37 seconds. Sophomore teammate Reily Pond scored a goal on an assist from sophomore Olivia Werth at 19:59 to give the Cheesemakers a 2-0 lead.
Sophomore Morgan Seffrood scored a goal on a pass from Werth at 24:38 to extend the Cheesemakers' lead to 3-0. Kallgren scored an unassisted goal to give the Cheesemakers a 4-1 lead at 28:47. Senior Shannon Rabotski tacked on a goal on a pass from Kallgren to give the Cheesemakers a 5-1 lead at the half.
Monroe senior Sami Curtis scored a goal on an assist from Rabotski at 54:01. Kallgren capped the scoring with a goal off a penalty kick.
Monroe freshman goalkeeper Anna Latimer had seven saves.
The Cheesemakers will play at Beloit Memorial on Friday to start a stretch of five straight road games.
"I think this has been a very good start," O'Neill said. "I'm very optimistic about the rest of the season."
