MONTICELLO - The Juda girls basketball team was almost unstoppable feeding the ball inside and pounding Monticello 49-23.

Juda (9-5, 3-4 Six Rivers East) outscored the Ponies 14-6 in the first quarter and the lead ballooned to 16-points at halftime.

Monticello coach Paul Wedig said playing back-to-back games hurt his team.

"We really didn't get a chance to scheme against Juda's post players," Wedig said. "When you get a 6-2 or 6-3 kid inside on defense, it's pretty intimidating when she has four or five inches on you."

Juda freshman Ellen Kiser scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Panthers. Juda junior Heather Boeke scored 10 points and Rachel Bartels added nine.

The Ponies were led by Desiree Marty who scored a team-high eight points and Nicole Smith who chipped in six.

Brodhead 49, Clinton 36

The Cardinals led 17-9 after the first quarter and 24-17 at halftime. Headed into the fourth quarter, Brodhead held a solid 33-25 lead.

The Cardinals were 10-for-17 from the free throw line in the game.
