Juda, Darlington and Albany roll

JUDA - The Juda girls basketball team didn't have to wait long to make a statement after dropping a tough game to Beloit Turner.

Juda (2-1) rolled to a 48-28 win over Evansville Tuesday night. The Panthers outscored the Blue Devils 17-3 in the first quarter and led by 12-points at halftime.

"The girls came out and really wanted to make a statement," Juda coach Curt Brown said.

Juda junior Ellen Kiser scored a game-high 18 points. Juda junior C.J. Dunwiddie scored 14 points and hit three 3-pointers. Senior Alycia Grenzow added nine points.

Darlington 60, Belmont 43

BELMONT - The Redbirds found their groove early in Tuesday's game by taking a 24-9 lead after the first quarter.

Belmont closed the score to within 32-20 at halftime, but Darlington rebounded.

Cassidy Chambers led the Redbirds with 23 points, four steals and three assists. Amy Jorgenson had 14 points, five steals and three assists. Elizabeth Mathias had 11 rebounds and four points and Carly McDonald had six points and nine boards. In other action, Edgerton knocked off Pecatonica, 71-48.

Albany 61, Beloit Turner 52

ALBANY - The Lady Comets had four players reach double-figures in Albany's big win Tuesday.

Courtney Pfeuti led the Comets with 17 points, Cassidy Bump had 14 and both Hilary Best and Hayli Peach had 10 points. Sydney Bump added eight points.

Both squads were knotted in an 18-18 tie after the first quarter and Albany held a 30-29 advantage at halftime. A 16-9 fourth quarter run sealed the game for the Comets.
