JUDA - Senior Chelsea Burkhalter scored a game-high 12 points to help the Juda girls basketball team cruise to a 49-13 win over Pecatonica on Friday.
Juda (11-6, 3-3 Six Rivers East) jumped out to a 21-7 lead in the first half. The Panthers used press, man and zone defenses throughout the game.
"It was really a good team effort defensively," Juda coach Curt Brown said. "We wanted to work on a few things for further on down the road."
Juda's Maddie Roth scored all nine of her points in the second half. Junior teammate MacKenzie Byrne added seven points.
"Maddie turned her defense into offense," Brown said. "She was really tough at the top of our press."
Pecatonica's Adriana Johnson scored a team-high seven points and senior Jess Erickson chipped in four points. With the loss, Pecatonica drops to 0-16, 0-8.
Brodhead 64, Palmyra-Eagle 49
BRODHEAD - Junior Erin Nyhus erupted scoring a game-high 27 points to lead Brodhead to a big Rock Valley South Conference win over Palmyra-Eagle on Friday.
Nyhus knocked down three 3-pointers and was a a perfect 8 of 8 from the free-throw line. Brodhead (7-10, 6-6 Rock Valley South) led by nine points at the half and outscored the Eagles 35-29 in the second half.
Brodhead's Catherine Hazeltine added 12 points. The Cardinals shot 79 percent from the free throw line 19 of 24) compared to Palmyra-Eagle, which shot 39 percent (9 of 23).
Darlington 69, Boscobel 38
BOSCOBEL - The Bulldogs were no match for Darlington on Friday.
Darlington sophomore Kaylee Meyers scored a game-high 19 points and hit three of the Redbirds' six 3-pointers. Darlington (11-5, 7-2 SWAL) raced out to a 41-16 lead at the break. With the win, the Redbirds remain tied with Cuba City for second in the league behind Mineral Point.
Darlington senior Callie Norton added 18 points and sophomore Kathleen Mathias chipped in 13 points. Junior teammate Kennedy Rankin made two 3-pointers to finish with six points.
Marshall 70, New Glarus 47
MARSHALL - New Glarus junior Willow Lee scored a team-high 11 points, but Marshall was too much and used a first half surge to topple the Glarner Knights.
Marshall's Bailee Eggers scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Cardinals. Teammate Elizabeth Lutz added 17 points as the Cardinals led by 15 points at the half, 36-21. With the loss, New Glarus drops to 7-9, 1-5 Capitol South.
Barneveld 64, Albany 36
BARNEVELD - Teegan Pickarts scored 20 points to lead the Golden Eagles to a win over Albany in a Six Rivers East Conference game.
Barneveld (9-7, 5-2 Six Rivers East) built a 38-13 lead at the break. With the loss, Albany drops to 2-15, 1-6.
In other action, Black Hawk defeated Benton 59-52 to stay unbeaten. With the win, Black Hawk improves to 14-0.
