JUDA - The Juda girls basketball team got a big performance from junior Chelsea Burkhalter to cruise to a 56-30 non-conference win over South Beloit Thursday.
Burkhalter scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Panthers. Juda coach Curt Brown lauded Burkhalter for her patience in attacking the defense.
"She waited to see what the defense was going to do before driving," Brown said. "She took only good shots."
Juda senior Jessica Crull scored nine points and sophomore Hailey Kammerer and Sara Jordan each added seven points. With the win, Juda improves to 2-0. However, Brown believed his team played better Thursday.
"I think we had some jitters in the first game," Brown said. "It was a much better rhythm tonight. I felt like we moved the basketball better. Things just clicked a little more."
Juda plays at Madison Country Day Nov. 28.
