ARGYLE - Junior Nicki Becker threw a one-hitter and senior Sara Jordan drove in three runs to carry the Juda-Albany softball team to a 12-0, five-inning victory over Argyle on Tuesday in Six Rivers East action.
Juda-Albany had 10 hits and scored six runs in the second inning and six in the third. Senior Sayde McDermott had two RBI for Juda-Albany, and Cindy Detra had a double.
Becker had nine strikeouts and no walks.
Senior Sam Mick had a double for the lone hit for Argyle (3-3, 1-1 Six Rivers).
"Hats off to Juda-Albany," Argyle coach Heidi Ganshert said. "They hit well, and their pitcher is excellent. They did a good job.
"We know we have things to work on. It's still early in the season."
Barneveld 13, Pecatonica 1 (5)
BLANCHARDVILLE - Barneveld used a seven-run first inning to grab an early lead in a win over the Vikings.
Pecatonica (0-9, 0-4 Six Rivers East) committed six errors.
"They (Barneveld) hit the ball very well," Pecatonica coach Chuck Meyer said. "We just shot ourselves in the foot. Once we opened the door, we left it wide open. If we want to get better we have to learn to move on to the next pitch."
Pecatonica junior Ninah McKeon pitched five innings and gave up three earned runs. She struck out four and walked seven.
Barneveld's Brooklyn Hogan went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the second. Barneveld's Audrey Hendrickson pitched a complete-game one-hitter. She struck out 10.
The lone hit for the Vikings came from senior Carly Rindy in the fourth. She went on to score a run on a wild pitch.
Black Hawk 16, Monticello 3
MONTICELLO - Junior Lauren Schultz went 3-for-4 with four RBI to power the Warriors to a big road win over Monticello.
Black Hawk scored three runs in both the first and third innings to take a 6-2 lead. The Warriors took an insurmountable lead with a six-run fourth to extend the lead to 12-2.
The Warriors had 14 hits. Freshman Natalie Leuzinger went 2-for-3 with two RBI, and sophomore Kaitlyn Fey was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Freshman Hannah Butler went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, and sophomore Savanna Burmeister was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Butler pitched a complete game to get the win. She didn't give up an earned run on three hits. Butler struck out nine and walked three.
Monticello senior Jessie Garrison went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Garrison pitched a complete game and gave up eight earned runs on 14 hits. She struck out two and walked nine.
