JUDA - Sara Jordan got a chance to make an impact with her arm as well as her bat Saturday in the Juda tournament.

The Juda-Albany freshman pitched a complete game to lead the Panthers to a 10-3 win over Racine St. Catherine. Jordan gave up five runs on five hits. She struck out five and walked three.

Juda-Albany stymied Stockton 5-0 in the second game.

"I knew both of the games were winnable games," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "I wanted to get Sara on the mound in some varsity situations."

It didn't take Juda-Albany (15-3, 4-3 Six Rivers East) long to strike in the first inning. Alexis Goecks walked and Morganne Goecks singled. That set the stages for Jordan who delivered a two-run double to stake the Panthers to a 2-0 lead.

The Panthers broke the game open with a five-run second. Racine St. Catherine walked 12 and had five walks in the second and the Panthers had just one hit, but scored five runs.

"They had good plate discipline," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "It was nice to get a lead because Sara hasn't pitched much. It's easier to pitch when you have the lead."

Juda-Albany senior Tabatha Davis tossed a one-hit shutout against Stockton. She struck out 16 and didn't issue a walk.

"She (Davis) was phenomenal," Davis said. "Tabatha was on. She had a little bit of extra snap which was good to see."

Juda-Albany wasn't the only team to win two games. Monticello went 2-0 edging Deerfield 3-2 in eight innings and beating Racine St. Catherine 14-2. In the eighth against Deerfield, the game went to international tie-breaker rules.

Monticello senior Clare Bruns started the eighth at second base. Monticello senior Claire Geitzel laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Bruns to third base. Junior Jordan Garrison then came through with a clutch bloop RBI single to win the game for the Ponies.

"Deerfield is a good team and they have a good No. 1 pitcher," Monticello coach Duane Garrison said. "It was a good test for us. We go into every game wanting to win.

Monticello junior Courtney Leuzinger helped the Ponies get off to a fast start with a two-run home run in the first.

"We are not a morning team, but it was nice to get that first win," Garrison said.

Bruns pitched a complete game. She gave up two runs on five hits. She struck out six and walked one.

In the second game against Racine St. Catherine, Leuzinger tossed a one-hitter in six innings. She gave up just two unearned runs.

Monticello senior Marissa Berg and Brecklyn Klosterman each went 2-for-2 and Jordan Garrison was 2-for-5.

Argyle knocked off Deerfield 7-2 and then lost to Stockton 7-6 behind their No. 2 pitcher.
