NEW GLARUS - Junior Spencer Jones hit a three-run homer with two outs in bottom of the seventh inning to give the New Glarus baseball team a 14-13 victory against Cambridge in Capitol South Conference action Tuesday.

The Glarner Knights took an 8-1 lead after the first inning, but the Blue Jays stormed back to take an 11-8 lead in the sixth.

Senior Evan Hauge's 2-run homer in the bottom of the sixth pulled New Glarus (7-10, 6-7 Capitol South) to within 11-10, but Cambridge's Sam Mickelson launched a two-run shot in the top of the seventh to give the Blue Jays a 13-10 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh, after two outs, the Glarner Knights got back-to-back base hits from senior Bryce Anderson and sophomore Tyler Molencamp. Hauge followed with an RBI single to score Anderson and set the stage for Jones' game-winning blast.

"It was a real thrilling game, especially for Spencer," said New Glarus coach Warren Howard. "I've never had a walk-off home run in 21 years at New Glarus."

Black Hawk 8, Monticello 1

MONTICELLO - Monticello coach Jason Pinnow said his team could learn a thing or two from the way Black Hawk pitcher Aaron Monson executed in the Warriors 8-1 victory Tuesday.

The senior fired a complete-game five-hitter, allowing just five hits and one earned run with one walk and five strikeouts.

"He threw a lot of strikes and the guys behind him made plays. Sometimes that's all you've got to do," Pinnow said.

Junior Logan Stietz went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and junior Mike Powers also had two RBIs for Black Hawk, which used a six-run fourth inning to break things open.

Senior Lukas Kolasch went 2-for-2 for Monticello. Senior Austin Steffen went six innings for the Ponies (5-18, 5-15 Six Rivers East), allowing six earned runs on six hits with seven walks and eight strikeouts.

Albany 2, Highland 1

Highland 4, Albany 1

ALBANY - Senior Ty Mauerman went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and sophomore Mitchell Kauk pitched two innings in relief to get his first varsity win as the Comets won the opener.

After Highland scored in the top of the sixth to take a 1-0 lead, the Comets (8-11) rallied to get the lead and the win. Senior Cody Schultz led off the inning with a walk and Kauk reached on an error putting runners at first and third. Sophomore Ethan Pfeuti's groundout scored Schultz and, after another groundout, Kauk scored when junior Tyler VanDusen's bouncer was misplayed by the Cardinals.

In the nightcap, VanDusen hit a solo home run in the first inning, but the Comets were shutout the rest of the way on just three hits. Mauerman pitched a complete game, going six innings and giving up four runs on four hits. He walked three and struck out four.

Riverdale 5, Darlington 4

DARLINGTON - Jason Singer pitched six solid innings and senior John Sturtz clubbed a three-run home run for Darlington in the Southwest Wisconsin Activities League contest.

Singer went six innings, allowing four earned runs with one walk and four strikeouts. The freshman also went 3-for-4.

Sophomore Aric Geissbuhler and Sturtz were both 2-for-3.
