MONROE - The game was tied at 3 before the Milton High School boys hockey team pulled away from the Monroe co-op team for a 7-3 victory Friday at SLICE.
Tyler Johnson scored all three goals off assists from Cade Martin for the Avalanche.
Johnson scored when the Avalanche was shorthanded in the first period to tie the score at 1.
"Tonight we played well in the first period but just ended up running out of gas in what was a pretty physical game," Monroe coach Josh Smith said.
Sixteen penalties were called in the game, including 10 on Milton.
In the second period, Johnson scored on the power play to tie the score at 2 and then added an even-strength goal to tie the score at 3.
But Milton scored two more goals in the second and another two in the third.
Dan Guilliams made 46 saves for Monroe.
