PRAIRIE DU SAC - Monroe senior Andrew Aurit scored two goals to help propel the Cheesemakers to a 3-2 Badger Conference crossover win over Sauk Prairie Monday night.

Monroe (13-5, 4-2 Badger South) exploded for three goals in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Aurit scored his first goal 55 seconds into the game and added his second goal at 1 minute, 26 seconds.

"We came out on fire to start the game," Monroe coach Tony Stamm said.

Monroe senior Lucas Goetz scored what proved to be the winning-goal at 9:53, which at the time gave the Cheesemakers a 3-0 lead.

The Eagles came back and scored two second half goals.

"I thought our team felt too overconfident because it came too easily and quickly for us," Stamm said.

Monroe senior Jordan Steurer had 15 saves.

"That is way too many shots," Stamm said. "We should have not allowed that many shots on goal."

Stamm said it's the first time Monroe has beat Sauk Prairie.
