HTL: Roon can croon a nice tune

MONROE - They were like magic, therepeutic words to Brewers player-manager Rooney Janecke:

"Finally. The nine-game losing streak is over," Janecke said.

Monroe rode the steady arm of southpaw Justin Hahn in a 6-0, Western Section Home Talent League victory over Wisconsin 69 rival New Glarus at home Sunday afternoon.

Hahn worked a complete-game shutout, fanning nine in the process, and his offense gladly capitalized on a few crucial miscues by the Tourists.

Kyle Spurley took the loss for New Glarus as his defense committed five errors behind him.

Monroe got a run on an RBI-single by Cody Boals in the second inning and added another unearned run in the frame. Then, in the fifth, two New Glarus errors sustained a four-run surge.

Hahn led off the rally with a single and, after a sacrifice, went to third on an Adam Siegenthaler single. Janecke pounded out a sacrifice fly before an error kept the rally going.

Mike Cleary smacked a double after an E4 gave Monroe new life. Then an E3 on a popup by Ben Korth allowed two more runs to score. The Brewers had a 6-0 lead and all the insurance Hahn could possibly need.
