RICHLAND CENTER -The Monroe volleyball team is still looking to snap a streak of not winning a regional match in five years.

Richland Center rolled to a 25-16, 25-19, 25-5 win over the Cheesemakers in a WIAA Division 2 regional quarterfinal match Tuesday.

"I feel like we didn't play our best," Monroe coach Heidi Witt said. "We had some glimpses in the first and second sets. We didn't bring the game I thought we would have showed tonight. I thought we would have played more competitively."

Monroe senior Sydney Mathiason had a team-high five kills and one block. Senior teammate Alexis Allen dished out nine assists. Fellow senior Payton Sigafus had a team-best five aces.

"Payton did a great job of serving," Witt said. "They had a hard time of serve receive. She was on with her hitting. We just her the opportunities."

Monroe senior Natalie Adamo delivered three kills and had two digs. Senior Alysha Witt had four assists and senior Meredith Hose notched three digs.

Monroe finished the season 12-17. The Cheesemakers haven't won a regional match since 2012.

"I'm proud of what these girls have done this season," Witt said. "There are things to learn from and work off of for next year. Hopefully, for the ones coming back they will know they have to put in the work in the offseason to start next season out well."
