MONTICELLO - The Hoosier School of Basketball will host a camp in Monticello May 21 to 23, and an advancement camp June 4 to 6.
The annual camp is directed by Woody Wilson, who currently serves as an assistant coach of St. Norbert College and is a former high school and NCAA Division I coach who coached teams to the NIT and NCAA tournaments. In 1999, Wilson was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.
The blue chip camp has been in operation for 29 years and is open to boys and girls entering grades 4 to 12. Each camper gets a basketball, which provides for more repetitions and skill development. Each session is planned daily to meet the needs of the campers.
Skills covered in these sessions are ball handling, passing, dribbling, techniques of shooting, offensive moves, screening and receiving screens.
A good portion of the camp will be devoted to team play, 3-on-3, 4-on-4 and 5-on-5. The Hoosier School staff will teach the campers the proper way to play the game of basketball. The importance of developing a winning attitude, learning good work habits and understanding the importance of team play.
