MADISON - Monroe senior Jeffrey Hill won the pole vault at Saturday's Madison West Relays in the Class B Boys Division.
Hill, who will be vaulting in Division 1 next season in college, scored a meet-high, 13-feet, 6 inches - a full foot and a half ahead of his nearest competitor. Cameron Wahl, a senior who broke his leg late in the football season in October, had a vault of 10-6, which tied for fifth.
Monroe senior Michael Barrett was second in the high jump with a mark of 6-4, trailing Tomah's Cory White by just two inches. Freshman Jake Hirsbrunner was fourth with a leap of 6-feet.
Nick Walker was fourth in the shot put with a mark of 51-5, just 1 1/2 inches shy of Catholic Memorial's Caleb Krause, for third place.
Skyler Stingley was fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.04 seconds, just :02.01 behind Catholic Memorial's Sam Tiahnybik.
Also scoring a fourth-place finish was Monroe's "A" relay team in the 3,200-meter relay, with a time of 8 minutes, 36.71 seconds. The Cheesemakers' time was just over five seconds longer than the champion Catholic Memorial.
Senior Caleb Ahrens was fifth in the final heat of the 55-meter hurdles, with a time of 8.61 seconds.
In the long jump, Monroe senior Ethan Schuttler was seventh with a mark of 19-06.5.
Senior Dylan Starck also picked up a seventh-place finish for the Cheesemakers, finishing the 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.57. Platteville's Nick Erickson won the event with a time of 2:01.07.
Joel Henry was ninth in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:29.5, just 32 seconds behind champion Joe McKenna of Madison Edgewood.
Monroe's 400-meter relay team was eighth (47.88), the Cheesemakers were seventh in the 1,600 relay (3:46.96), and the 800 relay team finished 12th (1:42.21).
