MONROE - The Green County YMCA Gems gymnastics team is off to a fast start.
The Gems competed in two meets this year. In the season opener at Waukesha Jan. 2, Rhianna Teubuert, 9, took first place as a Level 3 gymnast on the balance beam (9.3), the floor (9.5) and vault (9.65). She added a second place finish overall with a score of 36.95.
Alicia Kuester, 11, took second place on the uneven bars (9.2), floor (9.25) and overall (36.9). She finished third in the vault (9.45).
Jordan Hirsbrunner, 11, of Monroe, finished first on the bars (8.7), vault (9.35) and she was first overall with a score of 35.75. Hirsbrunner added a second place on the floor (8.8) and a third place on the beam (8.9).
Casey Rielly won the bars (9.0) for the level 4 gymnasts. She also finished second overall with a score of 34.6. Meredith Hose won the beam (8.2).
In the level 6 competition, Treona Voegeli, 13, swept first place in every event. She won the bars (6.1), and beam (7.9). On the floor, Voegeli took the top spot (8.8) and she took first on the vault (8.75). Voegeli finished first overall with a score of 31.6.
Maria Eberle, a 16-year-old Level 7 gymnast, also swept first place on each routine. She won the bars (8.8) and beam (9.15). On the floor, Eberle took first with an 8.5. She took the top spot in the vault with a 9.2. Eberle finished first overall with a score of 35.65. Level 7 gymnasts are allowed to make up their own routines.
Chandra McGuire, 14, as a level 7 gymnast took first place on the beam (8.45), vault (9.4) and overall (34.3). McGuire added a second place finish on the floor (8.45).
Sadie Swenson, 14, at the prep optional level, finished first on the floor (9.35), first on the vault (9.3) and first overall (35.35). She took second on the beam (8.8). The prep optional level is for gymnasts age 13 or older who may be at a certain level and haven't made it to the next level and make their own routines as they strive to work towards the next level. Veronica Andraski won the beam (9.1) and finished second on the floor (9.1) and overall (34.75).
At the Rite Hite meet in Mequon Jan. 9, Eberle in level 7 took three first places on the floor (9.0), vault (9.3) and overall (33.6). She added second places on the bars (7.3) and beam (8.0).
Ramsey Benkert, 13, took the top spot in level 7 on the bars (7.2). McGuire took first on the beam (9.0), and overall (33.9). She finished second on the bars (7.0) and floor (8.8). Jenny Knox, 17, at level 7 finished first on the beam (8.6) and second on the floor (8.7).
In the prep optional level, Voegeli won the bars (9.0), beam (9.25) and overall (35.4). Swenson took first on the floor (9.1) and vault (9.4). She took second overall with a score of 35.1. Andraski posted second place finishes on the beam (9.0) and floor (8.5).
Hirsbrunner at level 4 finished second on the vault (8.8), third on the bars (8.6) and third overall (35.25). Lexus Trickel took second on the floor (9.5) and Rielly was third on the bars (8.5).
In the level 3 competition, Olivia Bobak, 8, won the floor (9.5) and took third in the vault (9.4. Kuester finished second in the vault (9.3). She added third place finishes on the bars (9.1) and overall (36.5).
